Case Study: Solving Ink Durability Issues for PVC Measuring Tapes in the Construction Industry
In the construction industry, PVC measuring tapes often get paint on them, and removing the paint typically requires harsh solvents. Unfortunately, these aggressive chemicals not only removed the paint but also damaged the black ink markings essential for accurate measurements. The ink was exposed because the plastic protective overlaminate deteriorated due to the chemicals and photodegradation from sunlight, both of which harmed the ink.
To solve this issue, we developed a specialized coating capable of withstanding 1,500 double rubs of MEK and acetone, as well as sand abrasion, steel wool wear, repeated 180-degree flexing for 1,500 cycles, and UV exposure. Our client, after approving the formulation, proceeded to build a custom coating line to apply the solution according to our precise guidelines.
By carefully reviewing milestones and holding regular meetings, we ensured a seamless production launch without any issues. The client was highly satisfied—a true testament to the power of partnership.
